This modular DC fast charging EV station is coming to the US in 2023

EVBox announced today that US production has started on its modular DC fast charging EV station, the EVBox Troniq Modular.

The Amsterdam-based company is moving fast – it’s manufacturing the Troniq Modulars at its factory in Libertyville, Illinois, and key customer deliveries are targeted for the Build America, Buy America NEVI-compliant chargers in the last quarter of 2023.

What’s neat about the EVBox Troniq Modular is that it’s… well, modular. Customers can bump up power output as needed, from 90 kW up to 240 kW, by adding modules in 30 kW increments. The modular DC fast charging EV station has a door on the back, and the modules slide into the back of the charger like drawers in a dresser.

The Troniq Modular can charge two EVs at the same time thanks to dynamic load balancing technology. EVBox also asserts that the charger’s multi-language touchscreen and status LED indicator makes the charging process hassle free. (Let’s hope.)

EVBox wrote in July that it plans to add the NACS connector to its North American product line but doesn’t specifically say whether it’s going to feature on the Troniq Modular, along with J1772 connectors.
