North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Go Green, Go Digital week – htn

North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust has shared an update on its first ‘Go Green Go Digital’ sustainability awareness week which took place at the start of December and highlights the ongoing partnership between the trust’s digital transformation team and sustainability working group.

The week included online drop-in sessions from the digital team to provide staff with an overview of the digital solutions in place at the trust which are designed to support sustainability. Examples provided include the Combined Wellbeing Portal, a service aiming to enhance access to mental health support and services and empower self-management through provision of information and guidance; and Patient Aide, an app designed to help young people manage their health and interact with the service.

Alongside activities set up to encourage recycling and re-using through crafting, digital screens were set up to provide teams with the opportunity to watch a climate documentary with the aim of learning more about the science of and potential solutions for climate change, with the trust noting that this “provided a good opportunity to set time aside and stimulated important conversations amongst colleagues.”

In September, we shared how a new competition to encourage green innovations for a more sustainable healthcare system was launched by SBRI Healthcare in partnership with the Greener NHS programme and the AHSN Network.

In the summer, we took a look at the green plan from Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, which shares ambitions including an audit of their digital infrastructure and the development of a new digital strategy.

On a similar note, earlier in the year HTN explored the role of digital in green plans from five integrated care systems – Somerset, North East London, Derbyshire, Suffolk and North East Essex, and Norfolk and Waveney. Click here to read more.
